When I started learning to knit from my Sister-in-Law a little over two years ago, I soon took on an undertaking that many though was ambitious so early: a sweater. I'm always cold, so of course the first thing I wanted when I learned to knit was a big cozy sweater to keep me warm. My SIL helped me pick out some lovely alpaca yarn that would do just that and I got to work on it. A fellow knitter and the Knit Night I attended joked that in a couple years I would look back on my first sweater and not be able to stand all of the little mistakes that I could now see. How true. Thank goodness I came to that point at last, so I frogged my first sweater and salvaged the yarn for a better purpose. Enter this Glam Sweater. I had seen this pattern from the book Glam Knits a long while ago and wanted this pattern most out of the whole book. Alas, price and accessibility of the book forbade that from happening. Then I noticed it on Ravelry again and, low and behold, it was now offered free due to some errors in the original printing.
Now I have a new sweater, just as warm and cozy as the first, but with a fun vintage feel to it and a lovely lace panel running along it to make it a little dressier.
I finished it, with almost exactly the amount of yarn needed, and on Valentines Day, so I had something warm yet pretty to wear that day.
