For a while now I've thought that the term "frock" was far more appealing than "dress", but never managed to break the habit of calling them as I had always done. I've decided that needs to change. I think the final blow was when I wore this dr....*ahem*...frock to an audition for Bard on the Beach and kind Christopher Gaze greeted me in his charming British accent by telling me "what a lovely frock" I was wearing.

This was perhaps the first notable garment that I created the pattern for completely from scratch- no cheating by altering things from a basic sloper pattern or anything.

This one was inspired by two other dresses I'd seen on Burda: Maryy's Stipeyy and Olya's Sundress.

Actually, it was also originally meant to be a nightie, but I liked it so much for the lovely summer weather that I'm trying to enjoy before the rain returns that I quite like it as a frock. I probably still will use it to sleep in yet when it is too cold to wear it out.

Partially as planning for use as sleepwear and partially because the skirt to this is so light and big that the slightest gust threatens a Marilyn moment, I made some matching shorts to go under. I like that they match perfectly, so I feel free to move around and do as I please without anyone even knowing they are shorts that are showing.
