When I found out that I got to go to the Jessies this year (Vancouver Theatre's version of the Tonys) I knew I wanted to sew a dress for it. I went to Dressew and found this lovely fabric on double-sale there ($2/m!), so I went for it. Only thing is that the fabric (a light, gauzy type) lead me to make this dress. As I got closer to finishing it, it was quite clear that, though I love this dress, it was not the thing to wear to the Jessies.
It is, however, fairly versatile in terms of weather to wear it in...
and though it is a length that would require shorts under to do so, it makes me want to dance around.
I drafted the pattern for this myself and did alot of draping while making this. The two layers of hem are a little off on one side (as seen in this last photo) but I will no doubt be fixing that soon.
